Before taking Younghae’s class I struggled with how to best structure my practice sessions, and improve my Copperplate script. Her oval guide sheets and basic stroke practice sheets included in the course gave me an easy way to start practice time at my desk while improving my muscle memory! Copperplate Foundations is different from any calligraphy class I have taken. I was somewhat familiar with the Copperplate letterforms, but I saw so much improvement in my script overall after finishing this class.

I would absolutely recommend the course, yes! The whole set up is amazing. The videos are of top notch quality and easy to follow. I love that they are straight and to the point, no superfluous explanations, just what we need to know, with clear views and a focus on the details. The teaching aspect is truly extraordinary and I appreciate how much work and thought went into every video. Impressive. I loved the fact that there was homework, but that it was a low pressure environment. I loved the fact that I was able to work through the materials at my own pace, in bits of 10 minutes or in longer sessions - whenever I was able to make it work. I also really liked the community group actually and I was surprised by that! I didn't think this would be so important, but I realized that having other people comment, ask questions, and sometimes reply to my own comments, that was a great feeling! It made me feel like I am actually part of a group and I believe it helped me keep up with it! This is a wonderful set up. And finally, I very much enjoyed Younghae's style of teaching. I always felt very happy "going to class" :)

This course was well-paced with time between modules to practice the basics before we progressed to the more complex skills. Younghae was very clear in her instruction and also very encouraging and constructive in her feedback, especially during the live sessions. It was also very encouraging being able to grow and learn alongside other students in the community group. I would absolutely recommend! As you progress through the course, you can see how much time, dedication, expertise has been channelled into creating an enjoyable and effective learning experience.
